As similar to other rival netbooks in the market (such as Acer Aspire One and MSI Wind), Asus Eee PC 1000 has a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 processor and 1024GB RAM of memory as standard. For Linux, it comes with 80GB of hard drive, on the other hand, for Windows XP version it has a capacity of 160GB. Dell’s is a late bloomer into the growing trend of mini laptops with its 8.9 inch Dell Mini 9 (with a larger ‘Mini 12′ also included in the series). It looks much like any other Dell laptop - functional - and to an extent it is. There’s nothing radically new about the Mini 9, it has what most other 9 inch laptops have, in short, Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and a glossy 8.9 inch screen with 1024×600 resolution.

Without a doubt, ASUS is known for its innovations when it comes to netbooks. The competition has certainly become tighter, with brands like Samsung, Acer and Dell also catching up. But what made the ASUS Eee series such a success are its light weight, high functionality, flexibility and classic look. Even when other computers catch up with the looks and flexibility departments, what is good about ASUS is that it has combined all these features very well and made it affordable at more or less, $300.
